Stop Smuggling Endangered Gorillas and Chimps

Social media is now the #1 way that poachers and smugglers connect with buyers, sending live and dead animals to all corners of the earth, decimating populations.

These magnificent animals are so much like us: social, emotional and intelligent. They deserve to live a life free from the horrors of poaching and smuggling.

By adding your name to this letter today, you will join the global movement to ask social media giants to use their power to save great apes in their native African rainforest.

Ape Action Africa has been rescuing rare survivors of this horrific trade for more than 25 years in the African rainforest.

~ The Letter ~

To the CEOs of Meta, owner of Facebook and Instagram, and of Google, owner of YouTube:

You have the power to stop the smuggling of endangered gorillas and chimps.

Social media is now the #1 way that smugglers connect with “customers”, sending live and dead animals to all corners of the earth, decimating populations.

These magnificent animals are so much like us: social, inquisitive, intelligent. They deserve to live a life free from the horrors of slaughter and capture.

By using the exceptional technology you have, to implement greater scrutiny of the ads, photos and videos that your platforms allow, you are each in a position to significantly interrupt this horrific trade. And to do the world a favor by preventing the extinction of gorillas and chimpanzees.

Those of us who have signed this letter urge you to use your power to save great apes in their native African rainforest.

Respectfully,

Friends of Ape Action Africa.org
